Gallagher is a global leader in insurance brokerage, risk management and consulting services. Our mission is to provide tailored and comprehensive insurance solutions that meet the diverse needs of our clients. We aim to develop effective risk management strategies to protect people and reduce the total cost of risk, while also delivering a strategic approach to organizational well being that aligns with our clients’ goals.

How many employees do you have?

Gallagher has over 56,000 employees worldwide. Within Canada, our clients are supported by more than 1,000 insurance professionals from coast to coast, including more than 150 based here in Quebec.

Can you summarize the history of your business for us: the initial idea, the steps you took, and its evolution until today?

Gallagher was founded in 1927 by Arthur J. Gallagher in Chicago. The initial idea was to provide exceptional insurance brokerage services with a focus on client relationships and integrity. Over the decades, we expanded our services and geographical reach through strategic acquisitions and organic growth. Today, we are one of the largest insurance brokerages in the world, known for our innovative solutions and commitment to client service.

In 2017, GPL Assurance merged with Gallagher in the Quebec market, marking a significant step in our expansion in Canada. This merger has strengthened our ability to provide localized expertise combined with global resources, and today, we proudly operate as one unified Gallagher, dedicated to serving our clients with excellence.

What are your principal markets?

At Gallagher, our experts are committed to providing tailored solutions for personal home and auto insurance, specialty coverages as well as support through claims advocacy. We proudly serve a wide range of businesses across Canada, ranging from small to medium enterprises to large multinational corporations. Our expertise spans multiple industries, including healthcare, construction, education, and public entities, among others. As we like to say at Gallagher, “Any risk, any size, anywhere”.

What are you most proud of accomplishing as a business?

We take pride in our strong client relationships and ethical business practices through decades of growth and change. For nearly a century, we’ve built a trusted reputation with our clients and colleagues, grounded in integrity.

Does your business have environmental and/or social implications?

We are dedicated to corporate social responsibility, actively engaging in community support initiatives. Our efforts focus on promoting diversity and inclusion within our workforce and backing various charitable causes. Gallagher is also a proud partner of Special Olympics International, reflecting our commitment to making a positive difference in the world.

What are the next steps or projects for your business?
